Compact Ethernet switches

Industrial machines increasingly communicate via Ethernet networks - they are the nerve paths of the intelligent factory. For this reason, Lapp has expanded its range of active components to include additional industrial switches that offer a range of various benefits. The new Etherline Access switches are available in different versions with four to 16 ports, also in combination with ports for fibre optic cables and as a Power-over-Ethernet variant. All switches have robust metal housings and are designed for DIN rail mounting.

The models PNF04T, PNF08T and PNF16T are very compact Profinet switches, designed specifically for space-constrained control cabinets. The switches comply with Profinet Conformance Class B, are managed and can be configured via a web interface, and have an operating temperature range of -40 °C to +75 °C. In addition to eight RJ45 ports, the Etherline Access M08T02SFP and M08T02GSFP also have two SFP ports for connecting fibre optic cables. In addition to the Ethernet switches, Lapp also offers suitable SFP standard modules for converting optical into electrical signals.

In addition to managed switches, Lapp also offers a range of new unmanaged switches for the quick and simple deployment of Ethernet networks. The Etherline Access U16T has 16 RJ45 ports for data rates of up to 100 MBit/s, the eight ports of the model U08GT even reach gigabit speed.

A useful feature of Ethernet cables is that they can transmit electrical energy as well as data. The power levels are sufficient to supply cameras in quality monitoring or Wifi access points, so that no separate power supply is necessary. The unmanaged Etherline Access U04TP01T switch has four RJ45 ports with Power over Ethernet for powering the connected peripherals and one port for Fast Ethernet. As such switches are often used near machines where they are exposed to extreme temperatures, this model is designed for a temperature range from -40 °C to +75 °C.
