Industrial 5G Cooperation between VDMA AG WCM and 5G-ACIA
VDMA AG WCM and 5G-ACIA have adopted a declaration of cooperation in the area of industrial 5G, and back a diverse, competitive and secure 5G ecosystem for industry.
The VDMA Working Group Wireless Communications for Machines (AG WCM) and 5G-ACIA have adopted a declaration of cooperation on industrial 5G. In this context, the WCM working group and the 5G-ACIA strive for a diverse, competitive and secure 5G ecosystem for industry and mechanical engineering. The declaration of cooperation lays the foundation for effective cooperation on industrial 5G between the two organizations through cooperation mechanisms and mutual exchange.
The mission of the VDMA working group WCM is to promote the technology-neutral use of radio solutions in mechanical and plant engineering and at the same time to lower barriers to entry. Synergies should be raised for all those involved in the value chain and the prerequisites for the sustainable development of competitive cutting-edge technologies created. In addition to technical, organizational aspects should also be taken into account when introducing radio solutions in machines, production systems and companies – a win-win situation for all participating companies thanks to the exchange of experience and the creative potential of the strong VDMA network.
The core task of 5G-ACIA is to enable the best possible use of mobile communications and in particular 5G technology by relevant industries and in particular the manufacturing and process sectors. 5G-ACIA is committed to ensuring that the unique interests and aspects of the industrial sector related to 5G standardization and regulation are properly considered. In addition, she is committed to ensuring that current 5G developments are understood by those involved in the industrial sector and passed on to them. This includes possible integration concepts and migration paths, but also the evaluation of key technologies that emerge from the 5G standardization bodies.
According to Ralf Neubert, Schneider Electric and chairman of the WCM working group, “the increasing demands of machine and plant manufacturers and a targeted and interoperable integration of industrial radio solutions in machine and plant construction require new measures and partnerships. Our members will benefit from efficient cooperation between the WCM working group and 5G-ACIA. ”
“5G is the key technology for the factories of the future and can take Industry 4.0 to the next level cooperation with mechanical and plant engineering and the electrical industry is an important step in making the industrial 5G vision a reality. We are pleased about the closer cooperation with AG WCM,” said Dr. Andreas Mueller, 5G-ACIA Chair.
About the WCM working group
The VDMA Working Group Wireless Communications for Machines is the technology-neutral, application-oriented platform for the integration and use of wireless technologies in machines, plants and production systems for all relevant stakeholders in the value chain. With over 80 members, the WCM working group serves to generate and exchange information, promote new applications and add value, and increase the competitiveness of all those involved.
