Reduce the Cost of Transmitting Multiple Temperature Sensor Measurements

Temperature Concentrator System Diagram

The TCS Temperature Concentrator System significantly reduces the cost of transmitting multiple temperature sensor measurements in both general-purpose and hazardous area applications by "concentrating" several signals over digital network links.

The TCM’s 16 I/O channels can be quickly configured to accept any combination of RTD, T/C, mV, and resistance or potentiometer signal inputs. These inputs are converted to the HART® digital communications protocol and transmitted over long distances from the field to the control room via an economical HART digital data link.

All process, status, and diagnostic information can be accessed by a HART-based control system or host. For integration with MODBUS RTU-based hosts, the TCM can be used with a Moore Industries HMC HART-to-MODBUS Converter. Alternatively, the TCM can be coupled with a Moore Industries HES HART-to-Ethernet Gateway System, allowing connection to a MODBUS/TCP or HART-IP host. This versatile system ensures seamless and cost-effective temperature monitoring and data transmission in various industrial environments.

Features of the TCS Temperature Concentrator System

  • Substantially reduce hardware, wire, installation, and I.S. barrier costs.
  • Intrinsically safe for installation in hazardous areas.
  • Universal input options: RTD, thermocouple, resistance/potentiometer, and millivolt inputs.
  • HART, MODBUS RTU, MODBUS/TCP & HART-IP communications.
  • Ethernet and IIoT Temperature Monitoring with the HES.
  • Up to eight TCMs can be connected to each HES.
  • Each HES supports up to 128 points of temperature monitoring over Ethernet.
  • The HES utilizes a HART device-specific command for high-speed monitoring.

The TCMs within the TCS can be connected to an HMC HART-to-MODBUS RTU Converter or an HES HART-to-Ethernet Gateway system to economically transmit several temperature signals to a host system. The HMC supports MODBUS RTU while the HES supports MODBUS/TCP & HART-IP. HMC and Single-Channel HES can only communicate with a maximum of two TCMs while the Four-Channel HES can communicate with a maximum of 8 TCMs.
