I/O system with IP67 protection

I/O system with IP67 protection

Modern, decentralized production facilities require automation solutions that ensure a high level of connectivity and performance outside the control cabinet. to meet these needs, Wago has developed its I/O System Field with IP67 protection.

I/O System Field combines speed with Ethernet-based fieldbuses (e.g., Profinet), technologies such as OPC UA or Webserver and, in the future, MQTT as a communication protocol, for cloud connectivity,” says Wago automation expert Ludwig Adelmann. Additionally, the system is ready for TSN, a key technology for end-to-end, flexible and secure networking. The I/O System Field supports all major Ethernet, fieldbus and Industrial IoT standards. The IP67 system is available in a wide variety of configurations for adaptation to a particular application and machine. Regardless of variant, all modules are available with fully encapsulated metal housings for harsh environments, and with lightweight, non-molded plastic housings with low mass for mobile applications. The system includes slim housing variants and lateral mounting options, providing more space and additional protection options.

In combination with IO-Link, the new system shows its strengths as a flexible “IO distributor” for both data collection and distribution. This communication standard enables seamless data flow from the sensor level to the control level. “This considerably simplifies configuration and cabling. Furthermore, completely new possibilities arise for diagnostics, parameterization and device identification,” says Wago automation expert Helmut Börjes.

The sensors and actuators are connected via standard M8 and M12 cables. The I/O System Field is powered via an L-coded high-current M12 connector, which is smaller and cheaper than standard 7/8 inch or M23 solutions. Its design enables it to provide up to 16 A, allowing more power to be connected in less space.
